Tickets are now available to sign up for the ACSOL conference on Saturday, October 14, and Sunday, October 15, at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. The cost to attend the two-day conference, including lunch on both days, is $50 for those who sign up before September 1. The cost will increase to $75 for those sign up on September 1 or later. Scholarships are available upon request.
The conference will include presentations by sociologist Emily Horowitz and Caleb Kruckenberg, lead attorney in the pending challenge of SORNA regulations. The conference will also include panels regarding how to succeed on the registry, employment opportunities, domestic and overseas travel, housing challenges, and the Tiered Registry Law.
Conference presenters include criminal defense attorneys Chance Oberstein, Alex Landon and Jeff Stein. Joining them will be author Frank Lindsay, social worker Alex Gittinger, employment specialists Sherri Harlow and Mark Judkins, law professor Catherine Carpenter and civil rights attorney Janice Bellucci.
“This year’s conference is the first in-person ACSOL conference to be held in four years,” stated ACSOL Executive Director Janice Bellucci. “The conference will not be virtual, but presentations will be recorded and can be viewed at a later time.”
The conference will be held at Southwestern Law School, 3050 Wilshire Boulevard, in Los Angeles. There is free parking at the law school.
The conference will begin on Saturday, October 14, at 9 a.m. and end on Sunday, October 15, at 5 p.m.
Conference attendees are welcome to join ACSOL for a no-host dinner on Saturday evening at a restaurant near to the law school. The cost for that dinner is $35 and will include multiple courses of Chinese food served in a family setting.
We are so happy to be able to return to Southwestern Law school! The campus is beautiful with its art deco architecture and the law school is very supportive of the registrant community. Hope you all will join us for a memorable conference.
I have been to many of these conferences and believe me when I say, you will walk away with a renewed hope for a better life. It is a very inspirational time, and a time to really bond with other registrants and their supporters. Please try to attend, if at all possible!
I’m so happy that we have an in-person conference again! The last two were excellent opportunities to spend time with others dealing with the same issues we are. The presenters will no doubt give us hope, inspiration, and guidance for the future.
The last time we ate at the Chinese restaurant was excellent – so many courses! I’m assuming it is the same place, and hopefully with the same ownership.
I’m hoping they will offer a tour of the building during the conference – I missed it last time it was offered.
